| Morton’s The Steakhouse in Downtown Denver will host a special Riedel Wine Tasting on Monday, August 25 at 6:00 p.m. during the Democratic National Convention, inviting guests to meet Georg Riedel, president of Riedel, to explore the difference that a wine glass can make on how wines taste. The event features Riedel “Flow” series wine glasses paired with red and white wines along with Morton’s signature hors d’oeuvres. Cost to attend the event is $70 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity, which includes a take-home gift of four Riedel “Flow” series wine glasses. For reservations, call 303-292-4148.
Georg J. Riedel born 1949 joined the family business in 1973 as the 10th generation family member to become president. Under his direction, the Riedel firm evolved into a world-wide operating company. Georg founded a network of Riedel-owned subsidiaries, starting in 1979 by opening Riedel USA and continuing the expansions to Canada in 1992, Germany 1996, Japan 2000, UK 2001, and in 2006 he founded Riedel Development, specializing in private label offers.
In 2004, Georg bought the German-based companies Nachtmann and Spiegelau, operating the three brands (Riedel, Nachtmann, Spiegelau) under “Riedel Glass Works” one of the largest producers of quality glass in Europe. Starting in 1987 with the support of winemaker friends like Angelo Gaja, Christian Moueix, Robert Mondavi and the endorsement of wine publications such as Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, the Wine Spectator, Decanter Magazine and many others, Georg was fortunate to lift “his Riedel glasses” onto the tables of the wine world. Under his leadership, Riedel has become the world’s leading wine glass company.
Guests of the Morton’s event can enjoy tasting the following wines poured in Riedel “Flow” series glasses:
Domaine Ste. Michelle Luxe
Erath Oregon Pinot Noir, OR
Chateau Ste. Michelle Canoe Ridge Estate Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, WA
Chateau Ste. Michelle Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, WA
Chateau Ste. Michelle EROICA Riesling, Columbia Valley, WA
The wine tasting will be paired with Morton’s signature hors d’oeuvres, including petite filet mignon sandwiches, chicken goujonettes, broiled sea scallops, and miniature key lime tarts. Guests in attendance will also receive a special take-home gift of four Riedel “Flow” series wine glasses (a retail value of $60). |
